Trend No. 4 for S/S 11

11 Feb

The 70s style is back and I’m loving it. You can’t beat the ultimate 70s hot pants or the legendary disco flares. 2011 is welcoming it all back but obviously with a modern twist. You can go for 70s glamour or a 70s boho look….whichever you choose it’s definitely the way forward.

Junk Jewels…

10 Feb

This gorgeous little company was created by a young woman called Zoe Jones, an independent London based jewelery designer. Her and her team have been creating beautiful vintage jewelery since 2007 and it has now grown so big it appears in fashion magazines.

Not only is it unique, but it’s affordable and fashionable too.

Visit them at Portobello Market or Notting Hill if you pop down to London…if not you can have a look and buy on-line for just £1 postage and packaging. You can also choose whether you want a long or short chain.

Click here to take you to the website.

Here’s a few of my favourite pieces …

This cute ‘I love you’ letter/envelope necklace is on a long gold chain for £12. You can also buy it for £10 on a short chain.

This gold fan and peach rose necklace on a gold chain is £8 n a short chain and £10 on a long chain.

I really love this necklace. It’s a little bottle with a cork lid with a red rose inside. You can buy it on a short silver chain for £10 or a long one for £12. Bargain!

This gold swallow bracelet is just £6 and you can buy it for a smaller or wider wrist. You can also buy a necklace to match.

This pink enamel heart bracelet is also £6 and available in blue and red too, with necklaces to match.

Maybe the £1 delivery charge is a bad thing as I just want to order all of these right now but sadly I just can’t afford it.

a bit of good news…

This week I also found out the mark I got for my Applied Project, (the equivalent to a dissertation) which I spent the whole of last semester working on.

My project was on fashion journalism and I absolutely loved doing it.

As part of my project I created a weekly blog: shufashion.wordpress.com

Please have a look if you want to find out about the work I did on my project or if you’re interested in some more general fashion blogging.

Anyway, the grade I got for my fashion project was a……

which I’m extremely happy about.

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for me in the fashion journalism world.

A weekend in Brentford Town…

8 Feb

I spent this weekend visiting my boyfriend in Brentford, London. I had a really good weekend. We stayed in a holiday inn (which I had no idea were so nice), got taken out for meals with my boyfriend and his parents, went to their family friend’s party AND also got to see the sights of Brentford. It was lovely.

I arrived in London and got the tube to Oxford Street to wait for him to finish work. Obviously to kill some time, I browsed the shops and ended up buying these…

These were from Miss Selfridge and as they were offering 20% off for students I got them for £17.60.

After he had finished work we got the long tube journey out to South Ealing and then a bus to Brentford to the family friend’s house he is staying at- one of which is a Michelin star chef. We had a lovely home made curry, he gathered his things and we made our way to our hotel.

We had a nice relaxing night, watching TV in our room and then having some drinks at the bar. We woke up Saturday, got ready and then had a walk around Brentford. His parents and sister were joining us on the Saturday so we could all go to the party together so we waited for them to arrive.

We then made our way to the party which was in a little pub in Chiswick. We arrived at about 3 and were drinking and chatting until 10…it was a very long day. After the party we then went to a nice Indian restaurant, ate some more food, drank some more wine and then made it back to the Holiday Inn for a nice sleep.

The Sunday was pretty much more of the same. We went to an Italian restaurant across the river from the hotel and ate some more and drank some more, before making our way home later that evening.

A very unhealthy but equally good weekend 🙂

Here’s a few snaps….

Trend No. 3 for S/S 11

Denim! There was a time when wearing denim with denim was a definite no no. Now we can’t get enough of it. Seen in work wear to pinafores- it’s everywhere. So it looks like a pair of jeans won’t be the only denim item we’ll own after this summer.

Trend No. 2 for S/S 11

If a lot of bright colour isn’t your thing, then not to worry! Another colour trend for this Spring/Summer are nudes and flesh tones. These colours will compliment sun-kissed skin and make pale skin look flesh and modern.

So make sure you update your wardrobe with whites, nudes, flesh tones and camel this summer to look elegant and sexy in those (hopefully) hot months.
